Vacation Rental DecorationRedecorating your vacation rental home is essential to attract renters. Your pictures of the rooms will appear on listing sites, so be sure you have the right colors on the walls that will appeal to those who will want to stay.

Orlando Vacation Homes: Now that you have purchased a lovely Florida vacation rental, you will want to upgrade the décor to reflect what renters like in a rental unit. In many cases, the rental houses that are sold have been owned for years by someone who decorated the place when they moved in. That means many rentals are still sporting décor of the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, or within the last decade.

Update the Décor

For the best results, you’ll want to update the décor according to what renters are attracted to on today’s market. You can get an idea of what that is by going to websites that have rentals listed and check out the pictures. See which ones are most popular by checking the dates of booking. The most popular units, of course, will have little or no room at the inn and will be in high demand. Sometimes this has to do with other factors, of course, but pay close attention to the décor for an idea of what to do with your own.

Contact an Interior Designer

Another way to get a clue about what the vacationers of today are looking for in décor is to contact an interior designer. They make it their business to know what trends are in and which are out. Florida has specific designers that can be hired for rental houses exclusively. If you aren’t from the area, ask your home seller, property management companies, and locals if they know of someone who can help you with your décor.

Be Cautious with Trendy Items

The trends of today involve very bold décor. Be careful when decorating that you don’t spend exorbitant amounts on trendy items and décor that will be outdated and must be changed out every few years. The least expensive change you can make is with an inexpensive bucket of paint. When the trends change color wise, you can simply do a quick repainting with the colors popular with renters of the time. This allows you to boldly decorate your rooms with color.

For example, if persimmon red and earth tone greys are popular décor colors this year, do it with paint on the walls. If you stay with classic and basic colors in your furniture and other appointments, you can change the wall colors next year when the colors of the day become bright pastels instead. Black and white accessories go well with any color, so you can redecorate by simply repainting your walls and everything else can stay.
